New babies are full of so many surprises, and full of so many night wakings! My babies always start off sleeping in our room in a Pack n Play, this time in a Moses basket. With so many night wakings, it's much easier to roll out of bed to change and feed the baby, and plop them right back into their bassinet while I sleepily crawl back into bed.
To make those multiple night wakings more bearable, I make sure to have everything I need for baby in arms reach. But what all is needed for such a tiny little babe? A good versatile caddy or cart is a great start!
I already had the Mollieollie All-Purpose Caddy, so it was a no brainer that it would be perfect for my needs. But what should you include in your nighttime caddy for baby besides diapers and wipes? Every baby is different, so is every parents, but here's a list of what I found to be important and/or needed:
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Rash cream
- Bulb (snot sucker as we call it around here)
- Vaseline (if you're a circ boy mom...no judgment zone!!!)
- Lotion
- Paci, binky, dummy, pat...whatever you call it!

- Burp cloths
- Gowns or Footies
- Swaddles
- Swaddle blankets
- Bassinet sheet
Explanation for SOME of these products:
Bulb -
We didn't need to use the bulb after bringing baby home, but it's good to have on hand just in case baby is still coughing up and choking on any left over fluid, that panic is real when you can't find the bulb to suck it out!
Burp cloths -
Burp cloths are always good to have scattered throughout the house because just when you need one, you can't find it! I always keep 1 or 2 extras in our caddy so I always know where one is. These aren't just good for spit up, they can help catch a super let down after your milk comes in. Trust me on that one!
Gowns/Sleepers -
Whatever you dress your baby in for sleeping, have some extras for quick wardrobe changes. You'll need them for those 2 a.m. diaper blowouts or when you don't realize that baby's diaper size is too small and he's constantly waking up drenched in warm pee. I don't know about you, but I certainly don't want to be running across the house in the middle of the night with a poop covered baby to find a new sleeper or gown! Having them in the caddy in our room has saved me many nights!
Swaddles/Swaddle Blankets -

Swaddles/Swaddle Blankets -
Same as the gowns/sleepers. If a diaper leaks through their clothes, you're going to need a new swaddle or blanket as well.
The needs for the rest of the products are pretty self explanatory so I won't go into detail, but I do hope this list is helpful as you prepare for your new baby.
